Geeking out is fun, even through the [loving] eye rolls of my wife and kids on family adventures ;) - Getting out and exploring this beautiful planet we inhabit, finding new things, and learning a little bit more about the natural history and cultural history has always fascinated me.- Did you know we have National Marine Sanctuaries that are in essence the National Parks of the Ocean? Check out this recent edition of the NOAA National Ocean Service Podcast - Sanctuary Spotlight: Olympic Coast "In this episode, we travel to Olympic Coast National Marine Sanctuary. Boasting rugged coastlines and encompassing over 3,000 square miles, this special place is home to a rich abundance of marine mammals, seabirds, fish, and invertebrate communities. We explore this area’s origins, maritime culture, and historical legacy, as well as ways you can dive into all our sanctuaries. Our featured expert is Chris Butler-Minor, a community engagement specialist with NOAA’s Office of National Marine Sanctuaries."https://lnkd.in/gmRpEAdr#science, #climatechange, #learning

2-yr anniversary: USN -> AECOM 😊Normally at the 2 year point, we’d be packing up the family on orders and moving on to the next unknown… new job, new location, new schools, new(ish) life. Great experiences and opportunities to explore and diversify our lives, but also challenging and stressful across multiple fronts. This year, we’re not looking at where our future home will have to be, but how we can continue to build the life here where we want to be. The challenges and stress hasn’t stopped (life is adaptation), they are just objectively and time-spatially different now. [I may have made that word up, but I think it fits the intent 😉]As I continue to develop my new career I want to specifically thank my advocates and coaches, Michel A. Laudier PMP, Zsolt Nagy, GISP, Yigal Bar-Av, PMP, Shane Parson, Justin Vandever, PE, and Nicole Boothman-Shepard, for using their valuable time helping me to understand and grow at AECOM - Water…and especially my supervisor, David Rubenstein, CFM, PMP, and Marcia Tobin, AICP, for allowing me the space to learn and experience the various opportunities for that growth while keeping me on trajectory.Cheers to another year!#veterans, #militarytransition, #AECOM

Why should HR Beryl resonate, and with whom?My heart goes out to the entire affected communities with widespread storm damage, flooding, and continued power outages across a large diverse geographic area. - unfortunately it happened fast, and it happened early.-Earliest Atlantic CAT 5 in history (by 2 weeks)-Earliest Atlantic CAT 4 in history (by 1 week)-Furthest eastward Atlantic CAT 3 in history (by 2000 miles)-Extremely fast and rare intensification from TD to CAT 3 (42 hours, never before September)-Normally, the Atlantic's first CAT 3 occurs near 1 September, not the beginning of the seasonRecord setting global surface temperature for the past 13 months, Atlantic SST is unusually warm, and we have a La Nina setting up for a very active Atlantic tropical season. -- are we ready, are we prepared?#climatechange, #resiliency, #sciencehttps://lnkd.in/gVfD8yyQ
