Picture this. A hot sunny day in Tennessee. We got 96 of the top girls in one location. Let me say it again. The Top 96 girls from our state in one locale. Working out, battling against one another. Hit sticks over here. Hit sticks over there. Iron sharpening iron. Talk about a nice event to be at and witness.

For the sake of this event, let’s just say we are at MTSU for a week. Might as well for the simple fact our state tournament is at this location as well as they have several courts for our young ladies to hoop on at both the Murphy Center and at the rec. During the first day, I can foresee position groups working out together. Some shooting, dribbling, working on footwork, counter moves, ect. Then, the girls start getting into some 1v1 play, then 2v2 play and so on prior to the build up of 5 on 5. Maybe even do some testing similar to the stuff they do at the NBA pre-draft camp where they test different types of agility drills. As you are starting to see, the campus would be full of the top girls in Tennessee getting active on the hardwood.

Prior to the actual group stages and knockout rounds, our girls would be able to get up and down the floor a little bit. As I move within the series, I am going to talk about each squad and the qualities each young lady brings to the table.

The first squad we will talk about is Team A.

Maliyah Glaspar Maliyah Glaspar 5'6" | PG Gatlinburg-Pittman | 2026 State TN (Gatlinburg-Pittman)– Nice guard who can handle the ball and score it. One of the reasons why she was chosen was her ability to facilitate the rock and fill it up.Has nice speed and quickness, which gives her squad a nice chance of pace addition. A solid two-way player who doesn’t let up on either end of the floor.

Joya Crawford (Dyersburg)– Dynamic hooper that will call UC (University of Cincinnati) her home in the coming years. A multi-level scoring threat who can sit down and guard, get paint touches with ease, and has a nice mid-range game. She has a grinders mindset that enables her to get tough buckets down the stretch.

Amaya Redd Amaya Redd 5'10" | SF Knox. Catholic | 2025 State TN (Knoxville Catholic)– Every time she steps on the floor, she exudes confidence. This kid does a little bit of everything. Scoring, rebounding, ect. Her ability to extend plays or possessions is also something some may overlook. She has a knack for being around the ball and it seems that she continues to get better and better.

Lauren Hurst Lauren Hurst 6'3" | PF Cleveland | 2025 State TN ( Cleveland)– Has an amazing ceiling with untapped potential. Has been battle tested here lately at different camps and USA trials. Love her length, ability to play on the perimeter as well as down low. She can fill it up and once she gets going, she is hard to stop. I love her competitive nature.

Anna Williams Anna Williams 6'2" | C Brentwood | 2026 State TN (Brentwood)– Big body down low who takes up a lot of space. Offensively, she has great footwork that enables her to establish a presence on the block and unleash different moves on her way to the basket. Defensively, she blocks shots, cleans up on the glass, and makes teams gameplan a little differently. She doesn’t allow her opponents to get comfortable down low dishing out some physicality around the block.

Maddie Braden Maddie Braden 5'9" | SG CAK | 2027 State TN (CAK)– Heady basketball player who can shoot it with the best of them. I love how disciplined she plays and can pick her spots to exploit. Isn’t afraid to mix it up on the defensive end. She competes from tip to finish.

Laila Downs-Darden (Creekwood)– Big shifty guard who plays with a lot of explosion in her game. Of course she can score it from all three levels, but she attacks and attacks and attacks. Has great length that clogs up passing lanes on D. Solid prospect with tremendous upside.

Lauren Clark Lauren Clark 5'10" | SG Cumberland Co. | 2027 State TN ( Stone Memorial)– Heady PG who seems to always make the right play. Keeps her head on a swivel, delivers the ball in a timely manner, and competes her tail off every single time she steps onto the floor. A selfless ball player who has a great feel for the game. Knows when to go get a bucket or continue to deliver the rock to the hot hand. Great kid who has tremendous court awareness.

Cailyn Taylor Cailyn Taylor 5'8" | SG Webb School Of Knoxville | 2027 State TN ( Webb Knoxville)– Energetic player who finds the bottom of the net at a consistent clip. Has a nice mid-range game to compliment her ability to finish at the rim. Can fill it up from the arc, but once she gets that first step past her defender, she is tough to handle. Solid kid who has a great court presence.

Kamora Moore ( Chattanooga Christian)– A bucket getter who is fearless on the floor. You talking about someone who is similar to an Allen Iverson, this kid is that answer. She can get downhill, pull up, and has a nice quick first step. She’s a hooper in every phase of the game.

Abby Bryan Abby Bryan 5'10" | SG Lincoln County | 2025 State TN (Lincoln Co.)– Great size and has a nice release point. Can play inside and out, her game has grown over the years. She competes on both ends of the floor. A gym rat who continues to get better every outing. Plays with a lot of poise and discipline.

Azaria Blocker– Rising freshman who will jump on the scene and compete for a spot in the rotation. Has nice court vision, finishes at the rim, and distributes the rock in a timely manner. Hustles all the time and plays with a lot of heart. Look for this kid to shine at the next level as she get acclimated to the speed and competition.

Team Overview:

These girls on this team are some gamers. They have some size, speed, and quickness that would be unveiled in a ball game. They are the type of prospects who play without fear, bring multiple efforts to the table, and of course can find the bottom of the net. If this team were to actually play, they would be a ball club that would be hard to game plan for. With so many solid pieces that could contribute at any minute, this team would be one of the more dynamic ones top to bottom.
