Update v.1.6.49 for 2023's Lords of the Fallen has been released, delivering various changes that were based on past feedback from the community. PC gamers can currently pick up Lords of the Fallen at a steep discount on Steam thanks to the Valve-owned platform's ongoing Autumn sale.
The successor to 2014's dark fantasy title of same name by Deck13 and CI Games, Hexworks' Lords of the Fallen is an action RPG that has been compared to Dark Souls and other Soulslike experiences. Updates for the game that were pushed out following its launch in October last year have added plenty of new content and implemented various other tweaks. Its latest patch focuses on the latter, having delivered a number of gameplay-related improvements.

Hexworks' newly released v.1.6.49 Update adjusted Lords of the Fallen's Exiled Stalker starting class. The developer realized that players preferred a more nimble approach to combat even if it limited their options, according to the patch notes. With this in mind, the Exiled Stalker is now faster and more agile, which should better represent the original vision of the character.

Update v.1.6.49 also introduced automatic Vigor collection in Lords of the Fallen upon defeating enemies. Players were either forfeiting the currency, forgetting to pick it up, or felt the entire process disrupted the flow of the game, Hexworks explained. The new Vigor mechanic will now ensure that players can put more energy into battles, according to the developer. In its patch, Hexworks also replaced the parry sound effect, tweaked both the Byron's optional questline and the fight with Lords of the Fallen's Hushed Saint boss, as well as addressed issues related to the Unbridled Focus Pendant and the sound effect for poison build up. According to studio, the improvements from the latest update were based on community feedback.

Another update for the RPG that went live earlier in November added PS5 Pro support for Lords of the Fallen. Publisher CI Games said that players should see a 40% increase in pixel density when playing on the new Sony console because of the game's 1.6 update. Patch v.1.6.26, the previous update for Lords of the Fallen, meanwhile, made changes to the fight against Pieta and delivered bug fixes that increased overall game stability.
Lords of the Fallen currently has an average score of 73 on review aggregate site OpenCritic. Many have praised some of the title's mechanics, such as the dual reality system, but they also found apparent faults with its difficulty scaling and dullness compared to other Soulslikes.

Exiled Stalker Starting Class Adjustment:
✕ Remove Ads
- The Exiled Stalker has been adjusted to provide players with a ‘Light’ playstyle option when selecting their starting class. While some players prefer a heavier, more powerful combat style (catered for with the Udirangr Warwolf, Hallowed Knight, and others), we realised that players preferring a more nimble approach to combat had more limited options. To that effect, the Exiled Stalker is now faster and more agile, better representing the original vision for the character.
Parry Feedback Sound Effect:
- Based on community feedback, we've updated the parry sound effects to make them more satisfying and impactful, offering clearer audio cues when successfully parrying an enemy’s attack.
Vigor Pickup Adjustment:
- Another popular community request, Vigor collection upon defeating enemies is now automatic, meaning you no longer need to manually collect it with the lamp. We noticed many players were either forfeiting hard-earned vigor, by simply forgetting to collect it, or felt the process disrupted the gameplay flow. We hope this now helps to streamline the game experience, allowing you to instead put more energy and focus into the battles ahead.

Byron’s Quest Update:
- We’ve made adjustments to Byron’s optional questline, providing players with additional opportunities to encounter Winterberry, to help prevent scenarios where players could unknowingly fail to complete it.
Unbridled Focus Pendant Fix:
- The Unbridled Focus pendant, which reduces the cost of Channeling and Aura abilities, now functions as intended. Thanks to fellow lampbearer, Syren Kindra, for bringing this bug to our attention!
The Hushed Saint Adjustment:
- The Hushed Saint boss battle has been adjusted in accordance to player feedback, to provide a more dynamic and satisfying melee combat encounter, retaining the same degree of challenge but with less emphasis on mounted combat.
Poison Buildup Bug Fix:
- Small bug fix ensuring poison buildup effect now works as intended.
