Cleaning the oven is not the most enjoyable activity that the housewives try to avoid as much as possible. Roasted grease and dirt really seem like a serious challenge. How to clean the oven to keep it clean for a long time?

Allow 2 hours to clean the oven.

First, set aside more time to clean your oven than usual. 2 hours - enough time. Although the cleaning process itself is fast, preparation for it can take time.

True, some tend to clean the oven in the evening. The oven is lubricated with detergents and left overnight. Then in the morning all that remains is to clean everything clean with a damp sponge or cloth.

The best remedies are soda and vinegar.

No need for very sophisticated oven cleaners or other chemicals. Everything can be done with the simplest soda and vinegar and a little water.

The recipe is very simple - pour half a cup of soda powder with water and mix well until the soda turns into a white paste. Then apply it on the biggest dirt and leave it to soak. While the soda is doing its job, take care of the other 2 oven dirt hoppers - the door and the grill.

Attention! Do not apply soda paste on heating elements in any way - it may then ignite and emit an unpleasant odor.

You will need a slightly different paste to clean the door. A tablespoon of soda, a tablespoon of vinegar, a tablespoon of water and mix everything. Then we apply such a paste on the inside of the door. Support and wash a little with a clean cloth.

The grill is the most difficult to wash. Washing them in the dishwasher can cause rust, so it is recommended to wash them by hand. One of the most effective ways is to wash the grill in the bath. You lay out an unnecessary towel or rag and place a grill on it. Add washing powder or laundry liquid and add warm water to cover the grill. The longer they stay in such soapy water, the faster they will wash off.

If the dirt is hard to wash off even after soaking the soda paste, a sliver of vinegar will fix everything. Just add pure vinegar to the sprayer and spray the non-washable areas. A few minutes and you can clean them.

Remember to wear rubber gloves when using vinegar and garden.

Why? If that solution already breaks down stale fats and food debris, then what can it do to your sensitive skin? .. You wouldn’t want to experience and learn about it. It is better to already use latex gloves, which can be purchased in every supermarket.

Bowl of water before cleaning.

If your oven is very wet, arrange a "sauna" for it before you start washing it. Fill a ceramic bowl with water and place in the oven after removing all grills and tins. Set the temperature to more than 100 degrees so that the water in the bowl boils. The steam helps to soften the grease and burnt food residue on the oven walls.

Self-cleaning ovens.

If your oven has a self-cleaning function, do not consider it necessary to clean it completely. The dirt itself does not evaporate anywhere - it will need to be cleaned. True, napkins will suffice.

The self-cleaning function is not available on all models. One should understand how this feature works. The oven is preheated to maximum temperature for a while. During such heating, the dirt simply burns. All that is left is the scalp, which can be cleaned with a simple sponge when the oven has cooled down. This feature consumes a lot of electricity and can emit an unpleasant burning smell, which is why it is not used often. Vinegar and soda are much safer products, by the way, neutralizing not only fat, but also unpleasant odors.

If you would like to use household chemicals - please. Keep in mind that these are ordinary fat-removing liquids and sprays that work in the same way as soda with vinegar. Only they contain lemon or lavender scents that provide additional substances, as well as less damage to the skin. The basic principle of operation has remained the same:

Spray> Hold to soak> Wipe.

Healthy and delicious food in our homes is a necessity. The most important contributor to this is a quality oven that meets all your needs. How to choose it?

Oven technical parameters

Numerous articles have been written on how to choose an oven according to its technical parameters. We are not going to expand in this area as you hardly feel the difference between the 65 and 75 liter ovens. Literature matters when we can clearly see the oven sections. Samsung's newest ovens may have two doors instead of one, which means that the problem is not in liters, but in their efficient use. After all, two large pots with stew or casserole have much more food than a plate with ribs...
The technical parameters that really matter when choosing ovens are power and power consumption class. The more powerful the appliance is, the faster it heats up and we can cook the food faster for cooking. Energy efficiency is paramount. The level now reached is that the ovens are plugged into a simple electrical outlet - they do not need a three-phase electrical connection, like a hotplate.

Another important technical parameter is the number of cans and grates. Some ovens can easily be stacked with 4 tins, while others have a maximum of 2.
drawer for easy removal of food.

Simple, grill, convection or with microwave function?

When choosing an oven, it is important to know your cooking habits. Someone bakes cakes and turkeys, and someone needs only an apple pie or pork ribs in the oven. It depends on what kind of oven you need.

A simple oven just bakes. The modes are very similar: top, bottom, top + bottom, top with breeze and so on.

The convection oven has an additional fan, which ensures an even distribution of air throughout the tank. This feature is useful when baking something big. This evenly fries duck, turkey, chicken and other larger dishes.

The microwave oven is the ideal solution for the saver. There are usually two appliances in the kitchen - a microwave and an oven. With such a baking machine, there is no need for a built-in microwave oven. This saves you the expense of purchasing two household appliances. The food can be heated simply in the oven. And it's even healthier... But if you rarely use the microwave, it's hardly a very useful feature.

The grill is an extra heater that usually heats from above. It is intended for a crispy food crust. If you do not have a barbecue in the winter, you can do it in the oven. Tastes really good, looks similar too.

Cleaning the oven

The oven is cleaned depending on how often you cook. If you bake frequently, the means and cleaning system should be good enough. Standard ovens do not have any specific cleaning mechanism or function. They are provided with a well-cleaned coating that is important to dampen slightly and wipe with a damp cloth.
The catalytic coating in some ovens ensures that grease does not accumulate on the surface. Special couples just absorb them. But then the catalytic walls need to be replaced every few years.
Steam cleaning is an advanced manual cleaning option. The empty oven is exposed to vapor, which quickly soaks all the walls against dirt. Then all you have to do is wipe the dirt off with a cloth.

Pyrolysis is a very good, albeit energy-intensive, method of purification. All the dirt is burned when the oven is heated to 500 degrees. If there is a lot of dirt, you may also get smoke, so make sure the cooker hood is turned on.

The most effective way is steam cleaning. Simple and fast.

Additional oven functions

Sometimes the choice of oven is determined not by the traditional but by the unique features that are not found in every model.

DualCook function. The oven is divided into two parts, where you can prepare different dishes without the fear that the smells will mix. Both parts can be controlled separately, so the temperature and cooking time may vary. Some models also have double doors for convenient removal of one dish without touching another.

Telescopic rails.Removing hot food is a major stress that has repeatedly ended and catastrophic. Some models have special stainless steel telescopic rails on which the tin can be placed, so that you don't have to be scared and frustrated.

Steaming. It is a function of steam ovens that provides even higher quality and healthier cooking. After all, steamed food is considered extremely healthy and beneficial for the whole family.

Cooking thermometer. Usually this function is needed for larger meat dishes. A special thermometer is inserted into the meat and measures the temperature. When the meat is cooked, a signal is given that the temperature can be lowered and the dish taken out.

Fast heating. This is a feature useful for those in a hurry. It immediately preheats the oven to the desired 200 or 250 degrees, and you can cook the dish almost immediately, without having to wait ten minutes until the oven is hot enough.

Cooling fan. It is a special fan that cools hot oven elements after cooking.
Remote control over Wi-Fi. Very urgent function for urgent people. You get ready meals in the morning and turn on your smartphone gadget at night. When you get home, you find the food ready.

There are more features, but keep in mind that each feature next to the standard costs extra, so you will have to pay more for ovens with more features.

Built-in ovens without hotplates are a good choice when creating a stylish and comfortable kitchen. At the moment, the market is full of ovens, with a wealth of functions. One of the most modern choices is the oven with microwave function. The main manufacturers of these ovens are SIEMENS, BOSCH, CANDY, GORENJE, AEG and ELECTROLUX. How special are these ovens?

Advantages of the microwave oven:

  • Functionality - oven and microwave in one.
  • Very suitable for medium or small houses, saving space.
  • A good choice when you don't want to waste time and choose several devices.
  • Suitable for those who cook little and some appliance - microwave or oven - is rarely used.
  • Enjoy those who like to experiment. It is easy and quick to combine two cooking methods.
  • You can easily warm drinks, food and even a baby bottle.
  • Easy to clean only one device, saving time.
  • Stylish and easy to use.
  • Possibility to choose the right size (compact up to 46 cm high and standard 60 cm high oven).
  • Color selection (black, white, black and metal combination).
  • Many cooking modes: top, bottom, stew, etc.

In addition, microwave ovens often have:

  • Convenient user interface (touch screen, LED lighting).
  • Automatic cleaning system (pyrolysis, hydrolysis).
  • Electronic door lock (eg on models BOSCH CMG6764B1, SIEMENS HM676G0S1).
  • Additional, advanced features (eg temperature setting, auto shut-off).
  • Telescopic grille, meat thermometer, various sensors, etc. attachments.

The biggest disadvantage of the oven with microwave function is the price.

Just because of the convenience, the microwave oven is quite expensive. Prices range from a few hundred to a couple of thousand euros. The price of the oven with microwave function depends on the manufacturer, capacity, energy class, control and cleaning system.

For example, automatic cleaning by pyrolysis or hydrolysis significantly increases the cost of the product. Microwave ovens with a higher energy efficiency class cost more, but this is not always a decisive factor. So, for a low-energy lower capacity model, you will pay almost the same amount as a higher capacity, higher- energy class oven (the same manufacturer). So, before buying a product, consider what is more important - the size of the microwave oven or the potentially higher cost of electricity.

Generally speaking, a microwave oven can be a great choice for modern people who love minimalism, functionality and modern design. The ability to choose the right size of the oven will be very useful in small homes, when it comes to wise use of space. Classic-color ovens are perfect for contemporary interiors. However, every consumer, having regard to his needs and the price of the product, should decide for himself whether this investment will benefit him.
