Christ Church is collecting instant potatoes and financial donations (for holiday hams) for the holiday season on behalf of the Brighton Center.

Please bring your instant potatoes to the church (drop off box will be in the narthex) and bring your donations to church services. We ask you either put in an envelope marked holiday hams or put in holiday hams in the checks memo.

Thanks for helping out families in need this season with your generosity.

2016 Church Festival Recap

2016-fall-festival

Through lightning, thunder, high winds, and beating rain, the 2016 Fall Festival still made a profit of $7,650.62!

We would like to thank all the volunteers who contributed their time and energy to both festival nights.

We would like to extend special appreciation to Bob Faulkner, who has chaired the event all four years; to Bert Bathiany and Barry Petracco, who along with Bob gave countless hours organizing, hauling, setting up and constructing; to Brian Laake, who kept track of all the financial information; and to Sherri Spaulding, who took care of all the licensing and state forms.

It has been decided by council NOT to have an outdoor festival since we have not had any luck with the weather and very difficult to find volunteers. A committee will be set up to look at different fund raising events that can be held indoors.

Lunch and Learns to Focus on Archaeology, Banks and Currency

Remember when Steven Spielberg introduced us to his most famous archaeologist, Indiana Jones? We certainly enjoyed the antics of this fictional character as he searched amid tombs, caves and other exotic locations for clues left behind about the lives of ancient civilizations.

On Tuesday, July 26, we will have a chance to learn about the real scientific study of archaeology from Dr. Sharyn Jones, chair of the NKU department of anthropology, sociology and philosophy. She will give us a presentation on archaeology in general and share with us some of the research she did this summer in Fiji.

On Tuesday, August 23 our guest presenter will be Mr. John Reusing.

Reusing has served as director of development for the Public Library of Cincinnati and Hamilton County. In addition, he had a distinguished career in banking as the past president and chairman of the board at Fidelity Financial of Ohio, and president and CEO of Fidelity Federal Savings Bank.

His presentation titled “On The Banks Of The Ohio” will focus on the history of local banks in the Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky area along with the history of currency.
