Join Christ Church UCC in the Hunger Walk

Christ Church has formed a team to walk in support of Washington UCC’s (WUCC) food ministries which include:

  • Lunch for our needy neighbors four days a week
  • Light meal for students in the after-school tutoring program
  • Breakfast and lunch for children in Summer Program
  • Food to families and adults from Camp Cupboard (WUCC’s free store)

The food comes from the Cincinnati Freestore Foodbank, where WUCC can get some items free and most at half the cost it would pay in a grocery store. But even “half the cost” still means money. We hope you can help Christ Church and Washington UCC feed our needy neighbors.

Every $1 we raise in Hunger Walk sponsors is $1 in credit that WUCC can spend at the FreeStore to buy food for people who depend on WUCC for help.

Here is how you can help!

  • Register for the Hunger Walk online at cincinnatihungerwalk.org as a participant or a donor. Please search for our team page, Christ Church UCC.
  • OR … Make a donation directly to Christ Church UCC for our Hunger Walk efforts on behalf of WUCC. Checks can be made payable to Christ Church UCC and mailed to the church address (15 S. Ft. Thomas Ave, Ft Thomas, KY 41075). Please mark “HUNGER WALK” on the check. This is a tax-deductible donation.

Please join our team!!

2016 Church Festival Recap

2016-fall-festival

Through lightning, thunder, high winds, and beating rain, the 2016 Fall Festival still made a profit of $7,650.62!

We would like to thank all the volunteers who contributed their time and energy to both festival nights.

We would like to extend special appreciation to Bob Faulkner, who has chaired the event all four years; to Bert Bathiany and Barry Petracco, who along with Bob gave countless hours organizing, hauling, setting up and constructing; to Brian Laake, who kept track of all the financial information; and to Sherri Spaulding, who took care of all the licensing and state forms.

It has been decided by council NOT to have an outdoor festival since we have not had any luck with the weather and very difficult to find volunteers. A committee will be set up to look at different fund raising events that can be held indoors.

Need to Know: Clarifying The New Pledging Process

church-logo-2

We seem to have some confusion about what the intentions are with the changes we are making to the pledge process.  With elimination of the direct pledging to OCWM and our local charities we have no intention of eliminating our giving to either one.  Our goal is to coordinate the giving better and ensure what we give supports the valued charities we want to support.

With this change we will introduce a tithe for the Church, and if we tithe with 10%, we will give more to charities in 2017 than we did with our directed giving to OCWM and Local Charities in 2016.  Some of the tithe will come from our church budget and some of it will come from the Endowment Fund.  We will continue to abide by all the rules of where earned income from our Endowment Fund can be used.  By utilizing some of the earned income from Endowment for our charities it will allow us to utilize more of our giving to support the Church Mission.

Most importantly consolidating our giving into one budget will allow us to give more financially with outside ministries (like Washington UCC) and non-profits (like Hosea House) that we deeply care about are already invested in. Please reach out to Pastor Ryan or members of Finance or the Council if you have any questions.
