Welcome to Christ Church!

Welcome to Christ Church!

KenGreetingSusan.smaller

Ken is one of our greeters on Sundays.

First, welcome! We’re glad you’re interested in checking out Christ Church.

Anyone thinking about visiting a church for the first time has a lot of questions. Will someone greet me on my first day? Will I feel God’s  presence? Will I fit in? Not to mention the all-important, “Where are the bathrooms?” and “Is there coffee?”

We’re here to answer those questions for you and take some of the stress out of getting to know us better.

One Service Starts on February 28th until May 22nd at 10:30 a.m.

Beginning Sunday, Feb. 28 and lasting for 90 days, there will be one worship service only on Sundays, as part of Christ Church’s ReVisioning process.

What will worship look like during this 90 day period?

UCC in structure, creative, musical, engaging; we will celebrate Communion every Sunday, starting March 6.  All ages are welcome!

Directions and parking

Accessibility

We reserve space in the front of the church for handicap access and also offer handicap spaces in our parking lot off St. Nicholas Avenue, on the back left of our church.  The entrance off of our Prayer Garden (left side of the church) has an automatic door which opens directly to our elevator.  This elevator  provides access to all levels of our church from one location.

Child care

Children up to age 6 can stay in our supervised nursery, on the lower level in the back of the building. Childcare is provided by BabysitEase and adult volunteers and is available from 9:00-11:45 a.m.  Some parents like to have their children participate in Pastor Ryan’s children’s chat (see below) and then go downstairs just before the sermon. Or, you’re welcome to have your children stay with you in the sanctuary during the whole service.

Restrooms

There are restrooms throughout the building. You will find some in the front lobby, in the basement off of Hoffmann Hall and between the nursery and Sunday school rooms, and near the parlor on the first floor of the building.

Entering the building for services

There are open doors off the back parking lot, on the right side of the church and in the front. For your first visit on Sunday, we recommend that you walk around to the glass double doors in the front of the building. That’s where you’ll find our greeters, who can answer any questions you might have. They also have welcome bags as well as activity kits for kids.

At the entrance to the sanctuary, an usher will hand you a program, (or “bulletin”), that will list the order of events and music to be sung during the service. The program also lists people for whom the church is saying special prayers, as well as general announcements of upcoming events and the like.

After the service

This is another chance to meet other members and ask any questions you may have. Pastor Ryan is available after the service and would be happy to speak with you privately should you have a need.

Welcome again to Christ Church!
