Fun and Fellowship

Here are the latest opportunities to have fun and enjoy fellowship with other members of Christ Church.

Join Christ Church UCC in the Hunger Walk

Christ Church has formed a team to walk in support of Washington UCC’s (WUCC) food ministries which include:

  • Lunch for our needy neighbors four days a week
  • Light meal for students in the after-school tutoring program
  • Breakfast and lunch for children in Summer Program
  • Food to families and adults from Camp Cupboard (WUCC’s free store)

The food comes from the Cincinnati Freestore Foodbank, where WUCC can get some items free and most at half the cost it would pay in a grocery store. But even “half the cost” still means money. We hope you can help Christ Church and Washington UCC feed our needy neighbors.

Every $1 we raise in Hunger Walk sponsors is $1 in credit that WUCC can spend at the FreeStore to buy food for people who depend on WUCC for help.

Here is how you can help!

  • Register for the Hunger Walk online at cincinnatihungerwalk.org as a participant or a donor. Please search for our team page, Christ Church UCC.
  • OR … Make a donation directly to Christ Church UCC for our Hunger Walk efforts on behalf of WUCC. Checks can be made payable to Christ Church UCC and mailed to the church address (15 S. Ft. Thomas Ave, Ft Thomas, KY 41075). Please mark “HUNGER WALK” on the check. This is a tax-deductible donation.

Please join our team!!

Johnson Hullabaloo Silent Auction Offering Online, Mobile Bidding

The annual Johnson Elementary Hullabaloo is this Saturday, October 1, from 10-5 but you don’t have to wait until then to get in on the action!  Or should we say, auction?

shopping-cart-402757_640

That’s right, for the first time ever, this year’s Hullabaloo Silent Auction will feature online/mobile bidding and the bidding starts now!  The process really could not be any easier and allows for a number of major advantages, see below:

1)      Bids are anonymous so no one knows who is bidding on what; you only know if you’re winning the item or not.

2)      You get real-time text message updates as to whether you have the winning bid or if you’ve been outbid.

3)      You can set an automatic bid so that any time you’re outbid on an item, you automatically bid higher, up to a maximum bid that you set!

4)      If you can’t be present at the auction site at 5 pm when the bidding closes, you CAN still win the item by putting the highest bid in from your smart phone.

5)      Check-out is very easy as the site links to your credit card and automatically charges you for the items you’ve won.  You can opt-out, though, and pay by check if preferred.

6)      If you don’t end up winning anything in the auction, you can still be a WINNER and make a donation to ensure the future of our children!

So, the silent auction site is LIVE now and accepting bids (I think many have already been made!).  If you do NOT have a smart phone or prefer to view the items in person before bidding, that’s great too!  As always, we will have the items on display in the gymnasium and workers will be present to assist you with the bidding process.  So, check out the items online now and be sure to check back later in the week as more items will be added including the classroom baskets you’ve all worked so hard to make.  Additionally, once we’re closer to the event you’ll need to go back in and link your credit card.

Here are the details:

  • The auction is hosted by Gesture
  • It’s online now and can be found here
  • Click on the provided link, register for the event, view the items and begin BIDDING!

After you register you will get a welcome text message.

There are 4 ways to bid:

  • By Smartphone

Click the link in your registration text. It will take you to a personal bidding page. Click on an item and place a bid, it’s that simple.

  • By Text

Text the 3-digit item number and amount to the welcome message you receive, (i.e. 101 500), no dollar signs or decimals are needed.

  • By Computer

Click on an item and place a bid.

  • By “Personal Shopper”

Find a Gesture staff member in GREY at the event. They will be happy to place your bids for you.

The link to all the items is here.  Have fun and bid the items high for a GREAT cause!

We would like to have at least one or two volunteers to represent our congregation in the golf marathon on October 7 at A.J Jolly Golf Course.

Family Promise

Much like any other marathon, participants collect money from sponsors for each hole that you play in one day. Your golf and private cart are free.

For information are registration, please call our Family Promise Coordinator, Melissa Cox at 859-291-1324.

Greater Cincinnati Crop Hunger Walk

The Greater Cincinnati Crop Hunger Walk is October 2. We are asking anyone who is interested to be a part of Christ Church’s team as we join other area churches to raise funds for the development work of Church World Service. Twenty-five percent of the amount raised stays in the community to be shared among the Henry Hosea House, Family Promise and Clifton’s St. George Food Pantry.

CROP Hunger Walks help to provide food and water, as well as resources that empower people to meet their own needs. From seeds and tools, to wells and water systems, to technical training and micro-enterprise loans, the key is people working together to identify their own development priorities, their strengths and their needs.

UPDATE: Christ Church to offer Pound Fitness classes

Due to increased demand, Pound Fitness classes will be held in the church’s Hoffman Hall every Tuesday AND Thursday at 6 pm.

–The organizers said they needed more space and scheduling options due to the amount of interest shown in the classes.–

Each session is $5.

For more information, please call Epic Wayts at 740-228-1415.

Instructors say participants will channel their inner rock star with this full-body cardio jam session, inspired by drumming.

It is sure to be a great time of fellowship and exercise!

Visitors

This Wednesday, our church will be hosting a youth group from First Congregational UCC overnight as they travel from Iowa to West Virginia for a mission trip.  On their return trip, they will stay overnight again on Friday, June 24.  How nice that they chose Christ Church as part of their mission journey.
