FAMILY PROMISE OF NORTHERN KENTUCKY CEASES OPERATIONS – Family Promise of Northern Kentucky (FPNK) announced a suspension of shelter operations effective in early May of 2014. Christ Church has been a host church in FPNK’s network for almost 20 years. We provided transportation to and from the FPNK Day Center, meals, and a warm, safe place for homeless families to spend the night during the weeks that we were hosts. Many of our members and friends as

well as members from our support churches (St Catherine of Siena, Highland United Methodist, and St John’s Episcopal) volunteered to provide these services to the families.

FPNK can no longer continue due to a lack of funds needed to operate its Day Center. While adequate funding was a challenge during FPNK’s entire existence, it lost one major source of funds a couple of years ago. Churches in FPNK’s network, therefore, will not be housing families unless and until FPNK’s Board is able to collaborate with Interfaith Hospitality Network of Greater Cincinnati (IHNGC) to extend IHNGC’s services to Northern Kentucky families. There are several

operational issues to be considered and resolved before a final decision could be made by IHNGC. The earliest date that N KY host churches would serve families would be in January of 2015.

Thank you to everyone for your support of and service to our church’s involvement in FPNK’s work to find housing and employment for homeless families. Please continue to pray for those families and for the resumption of our ministry to them next year.

CHRIST CHURCH OCTOBERFEST—Mark your calendars! Saturday, September 6th is the date for the festival. If you would like to help in any way, call Bob Faulkner @ 441-0143.

SILENT AUCTION-The preparation is under way for our 2nd annual Christ Church festival. Steve & I along with Patti Miller are working on putting together the “silent auction”.
